It is ideal to get your protein from a variety of sources. By doing so, you make it easier for yourself to eat a complete diet and add a variety of nutrients and flavor to your diet.

Pork is a great source of protein that is typically offered less in restaurants in comparison to chicken, seafood and steak. Trying foods you don’t normally eat like pork can be a great way to introduce new foods with valuable nutrients to your diet and reinforce good behaviors.

Starting a new hobby by testing different recipes with a protein source you are unfamiliar with is an effective way to diversify your diet – pork is one for many. For better nutrition try aiming for lean pork, such as tenderloin or pork chop. Pork has great nutritional value since it has several nutrients, such as iron, thiamin, selenium, niacin, vitamin B-6 and phosphorus, zinc, riboflavin and potassium.

Try this pork recipe – it is a great recipe for spring and part of a complete diet!

Pork is sometimes called “the other white meat,” because, like poultry, it can be a good source of protein. Pork offers many of the same nutrients as beef, but often with less fat and calories. Of course, this depends on the cut and preparation.

As an alternative to chicken or fish for lean protein, enjoy pork in tacos, salads, soups, and stir-fries. Adding variety to your diet keeps your meals interesting and provides your body with balanced, and better nutrition.
